Blue and Silver Weimaraners From White River

Blue and Silver Weimaraners, oh my!

The Weimaraner’s “gray ghost” persona brings to mind a solid, sleek, gray coat, which is a hallmark of the breed. This distinct coat is also considered to be silver. The traditional Weimaraner gray is actually a brown or chocolate coast that is diluted so it actually looks more taupe. Some have a more silvery coat and some are darker. If you are looking for a purebred Weimaraner puppy for sale, understand the differences in color before you start looking.

Blue Weimaraners are just like silvers except the coat is a diluted black instead of that taupe or diluted chocolate. The coat appears to be charcoal gray in color and like silver Weimaraners, they can vary from a lighter to darker blue. The difference between silver and blue Weimaraners is a difference in tone, not in the darkness of the color. As far as temperament in the dog itself, color is not a factor.

The American Kennel Club accepts both colors of the Weimaraner but silver and gray Weimaraners are showable, blues are not. Blue Weimaraners are generally considered an American variety and we are okay with that! Other countries are less accepting of blue Weimaraners because they are rarely seen. If you have a passion for the Weimaraner breed it shouldn’t matter what color they are. We personally think they are gorgeous creatures no matter what their color is. Their beautiful sleek coat is stunning in any color!

Weimaraner dogs are loyal and devoted animals and they are the best companion you will ever have provided you take the time to train them and allow them to have an abundance of exercise. Like almost any other breed of dog, if you leave them to their own devices for too long, you may come home to a stirred up home. Your Weim will tell you that it isn’t their fault, however. That’s just what you get for going away for too long!

This particular breed of dog was bred to be a hunter and a companion dog in the same token. Hunters would bring them out to the fields to hunt and retrieve small game during the day and at night would keep them close to them for companionship. It’s no wonder the Weimaraner likes to get extremely close to their people. They are loyal through and through. Most breeders recognize that this breed is unique and they do their best to keep Weimaraners purely bred. If you have a passion for this diverse and versatile breed, make sure you find the right breeder who will produce the best Weimaraners but also guide you on caring and raising your new family member.

At White River Kennels we have several blue and silver Weimaraner puppies for sale (24 total, 8 blues, and 16 silvers). They are waiting for you to take them home and make them a part of your family today.
