My life as a Vizsla puppy (as told by a Vizsla puppy)

I’m a Vizsla puppy and I was born at White River Kennels. My mom and dad are purebred Vizsla dogs and their people love them very much. My brothers, sisters and me were born out of love too. My breed is an exciting and fun breed and I want people to know how wonderful we are so that you might consider bringing one of us home to make a part of your family. As a puppy, I have a lot of free time to run and play with my family and friends. We have acres of land at White River Kennels so we are always running and playing and discovering. We like to discover things. Vizsla dogs are curious creatures and we were created to help our people hunt and retrieve. Nowadays we don’t hunt so much but we like to pretend. We require plenty of exercise because we get excited and we always need to be doing something. If we are sitting around for too long we can get into mischief. Not me though, I’m a good puppy!

I keep hearing us called the “Velcro Vizslas.” I’m not sure I know what Velcro means but we like to keep close to our humans, a lot. I shadow my people all the time. If you are there, I am there. If you are lying on the sofa at night, I am there with you. By the way, rub my belly while I’m lying with you. It feels good. If you are sleeping, I want to sleep with you. If you are in the yard, I want to be in the yard with you. You get the idea.

The Vizsla dog is very loyal. Once you decide you want to be our human, we will love you for the rest of our lives. We understand you may have other things going on in your life like a spouse and children or even other animals. With us, those other things become our things too. We can share your love as long as you remember we are there. Don’t ignore us; we just want your love and affection.

One other thing to remember about the Vizsla breed – we are smart. We are very smart. Don’t underestimate our intelligence. What I mean by that is if you lock us in a room or try to keep something from us, we will figure out how to escape or how to get what we want. The good thing is that we are easily trainable so if you start us at a young age to respect you and your things, we will be good dogs.
