Microchip to Protect Your Vizsla

Learn how to protect your pet from loss or theft using microchip technology.

We live in a crazy world. When we choose to adopt a dog, we want them to be a part of our family and not have to deal with any of the craziness that happens out there. When you bring your Vizsla puppy from White River Kennels home, you aren’t only bringing home a full-bred champion; you are bringing home a new member of your family. Naturally, you want to protect this little bundle of joy. You want to keep them from harm and make sure you know where they are at all times.

One way to make sure your new puppy is safe from harm is to use microchip technology so that you can protect your new one from loss or theft. It’s a sad fact that hundreds of dogs go missing every year and are found but handed into the local animal shelter that tries to search for the animal’s owner to no avail. Most dogs are equipped with identification tags or collars but with so much time away from their owners’ collars and tags often slip off or the writing has become illegible. One solution many have turned to is to have a microchip injected into their precious baby in order to raise the odds should they go missing.

The average cost of having a microchip injected into your dog from the veterinarian is about $45. This is a one-time cost and the microchip is nothing but a small glass cylinder about the size of a grain of rice that contains a radio transmitter and an electronic device containing the animal’s ID number. The cylinder gets injected with a needle into the dog’s skin. This chip will last for over twenty-five years, which is well beyond their life expectancy. It doesn’t harm the dog and they don’t feel anything after the microchip is injected. It is completely safe as long as you make sure a licensed veterinarian is doing the injection.

If your dog goes missing this will give shelters the animal identification number in order to search their database so they can contact the owner. This universal way of scanning is used by most shelters in the country. If your dog has a microchip it is in the nationwide database. Microchips have saved lives and kept dogs and families together. While a dog can easily lose its tags or collar, it is almost impossible to lose a microchip.

If you have just adopted one of our lovely Vizsla puppies for sale from White River Kennels, consider implanting your new one with a microchip that could very well save their life is something should happen. It is a sad reality in the world we live in today but it is important to be prepared. Of course, you will do everything in your power to make nothing ever happens to your little one, but you want to be ready if something does happen.
